SEA SIREN TRIO WELL RECEIVED AT MCLAUGHLIN GARDEN PERFORMANCE

Sea Siren Trio had a well-received performance at McLaughlin Garden for their Thursday Night in the Garden music series on August 4, 2022.   Although it was 90+ that day (which is rather unusual for Maine), we had a lovely audience and wonderful response.  Thank you to son Isaiah for operating the family's nonprofit ice cream pushcart, Cool Treats For Charity, at the performance.  Cool Treats and cold water were especially appreciated!  For more about our family nonprofits, see www.cooltreats.org

SEA SIREN TRIO RETURNS!

Today was Sea Siren Trio's first performance this year due to the pandemic, and it's so great to be making music again!  My gratitude to Rusty Wiltjer and Tom Coolidge for performing in Bridgton, Maine, with me today to a wonderful audience!  The three of us will be working together regularly for live performances and for working on arrangements for songs I've written that will be on my next original music CD #6.    For booking information for Sea Siren Trio (originals and contemporary covers), contact Kristen Short at (888) 522-6987, email seasiren@kshort.com.

Happy New Year From Singer/Songwriter Kristen Short

Happy New Year!  I had a very busy 2017 being the founder/executive director of our cancer support charity, Short Folks For Hope Foundation, empowering, encouraging and celebrating cancer warriors and inspiring youth to be creative, compassionate members of our communities!  In December I opened our new office in South Paris and I'm thrilled about getting the office settled in and getting my home office/studio back for working on music.  I have new songs in the works that I'll be recording over the winter and spring months and I look forward to sharing in my next album.  I'm also looking forward to performing at the OHCHS Grand Gala - "A Night at the Tonys" on Saturday, January 13, 2018, and I'll be performing a sweet duet with my daughter Allie.  Oxford Hills Community Broadway Musical Show auditions for Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella are happening next week that I'm very tempted to go to despite my crazy busy schedule...I love the support of the arts in this community and it's a joy to be in these productions with so many great local performers that it's hard to resist putting my hat in the ring to be a part of it!

The photo is of me as Trix the Aviatrix in the November OHMPAA musical production of "The Drowsy Chaperone," directed by Andrew Scott Turner, which ran November 9-19,2017.  The show was challenging and an absolute blast to be in with my daughter Allie.  Thanks to everyone who came to our shows - our audiences were fantastic!

"Into the Woods" and "Amahl and the Night Visitors"

Oxford Hills Music & Performing Arts Association (OHMPAA) just finished up a great run of  the musical "Into the Woods" directed by Andrew Scott Turner.  The show ran November 10-20.  We had a amazing cast and crew and performed eight sold out shows to enchanted audiences.  I enjoyed performing as Cinderella's Mother and the voice of the Lady Giant.

The cast of OHMPAA's "Into the Woods," that ran November 10-20, 2016, in Oxford Hills, Maine.               Kristen as Cinderella's Mother with Melissa Sproul as Cinderella in OHMPAA's "Into the Woods," 2016.

I am also performing as a shepherdess in the OHMPAA musical "Amahl and the Night Visitors," which will be performed at four churches in Oxford Hills, Maine, December 8-11.  My daughter is performing as Amahl and has been doing a stellar job at rehearsals!  We are enjoying our fourth show performing together.

My winter plans involve a return to songwriting, recording and producing music, and working on several writing projects that I'm looking forward to diving back into.  Wishing you a joyous holiday season and a Merry Christmas, and thank you for your interest and support!

Best wishes,

Kristen

It's Been a Busy Year!

I'm surprised that it's been so long since I've posted an update - it has certainly been a busy year!  In November 2015 I performed in the role of "Geminae" (with "twin" Maddy Prentice) in the OHMPAA Production of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," directed by Kenn Sawyer. In December I performed in the three-show OHMPAA holiday production, "A Christmas Cabaret," directed by Kelsey Franklin with a talented group of vocalists and a wonderful set of music.

In April 2016 I performed in a dream role as Glinda the Good Witch in the Oxford Hills Community Broadway Musical production of "The Wizard of Oz," directed by Andrew Scott Turner.  It was a lovely experience with an amazing cast, crew and orchestra.

In June 2016 I performed as Professor Willard and Mrs. Carter in OHMPAA's "Our Town," directed by Tom Littlefield.  I enjoyed being in this classic production with my daughter, Allie.  In August 2016 I performed in the OHMPAA One Acts Weekend in "Senior Housing" directed by Jackie McDonald and as Madge Geisel in "The Game's Afoot," directed by Corrine Turner.  It was great fun and the audiences were delightful!

I also did two original music performances in July in Maine at the Norway Arts Festival and Hamlin Memorial Library's Founders Day in Paris.  I'm back to work on writing and recording and plan to have a new project or two to announce over the winter.  Thanks for tuning in and for your support.

Blessings and best wishes,

Kristen

Weekend Update

Last night I enjoyed rehearsing with a great group of musicians and vocalists for "Singing Down the Summer," a For the Love of a Song show directed by Sally Jones to benefit the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine on September 5 at 2 PM at Captain Morrill's Community Arts Center in Orr's Island, Maine. Tomorrow (Saturday) I have the honor of singing for a friend's wedding, and for the final song I'll be joined by a group of youngsters to sing a requested pop song for the bride and groom (with lyrics I rewrote to help make them wedding ceremony-worthy and youth-friendly :) )  Then Sunday I'm back to the Portland Sea Dogs to sing "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch at the 1 PM game.  Have a great weekend!Orr's Island Benefit Performers

Back in writing and recording mode...

Although I'm back in writing and recording mode with several projects in the works, I do have several scheduled performances this summer.  See the performance listing at http://www.kristenshort.com/gig/.  Thanks for your interest!
